Faculty Wellness Resources

Dear Faculty Colleagues,

I am writing to you to remind you of some of the resources that we have in place to help you and your team members to better manage the stress associated with the coronavirus pandemic.

You can enroll in the Well-Being Index program at https://www.mywellbeingindex.org/signup using “UAB Faculty” as your invitation code. This system will allow you to track your distress level and also has a compendium of local and national resources.

Distance counseling is available through the UAB Employee Assistance Career Counseling center.

UAB Medicine Pastoral Care is working diligently to meet the emotional and spiritual needs of patients, families and employees. Click here for more info.

We will be offering the employee version of the Well-being Index today, so please ask your non-faculty team members to enroll in this program as it offers a compendium of local and national resources. This version of the WBI includes a specific form for scientists that is more appropriate for our research faculty.

The Graduate Medical Education office has a Wellness Toolbox for residents and fellows

There are other resources available for everyone at UAB Medicine on our website. Click here for more info. You can also find a presentation on Stress Management and Resilience Training here.

The AAMC shared several resources that have been developed by a number of groups offering advice at managing stress and anxiety related to the pandemic:

Finally, here is some helpful advice from Dr. Diane Tucker posted on the UAB Reporter website.

We appreciate our partners in this wellness effort including Dr. Tami Long, the EACC Director, Malcolm Marler, Senior Director of Pastoral Care, our Wellness Champion group, and all of you!
