Below is a PowerPoint demonstrating how to do Provider only discharge for use during surge when there are no nurses available to discharge. Historically it has been used by the NPs, GEMS, and occasionally PEMS seeing patients in POD D (resus/hallway). It works best with patients who require little nursing resources. Registration must be completed prior to discharge so we can no longer discharge someone and send them to registration.
We can not actually discharge them from EPIC (remove from the board). When you have printed their paperwork and they are leaving the ED, you can move them to another spot in the tracker board (like OTB). Nursing or registration will need to come behind later to actually get them off the ED tracker board.
